Do you even need this? For paperbacks, KDP adds a barcode to the back cover for free when you leave the barcode area blank (or use Cover Creator). You only need your own barcode if you design your full cover yourself and want to place it, or you print elsewhere (IngramSpark, local printers).
How it works: the ISBN check digit is verified, then the number is drawn as a standard EAN-13 symbol (guard bars, left half in L/G parity set by the first digit, right half in R codes) with white quiet zones. The optional 5-digit add-on has its own checksum and parity. Everything is drawn in your browser.
Tips: keep bars pure black on a white box; use the SVG for vector layouts. KDP suggests about 2" × 1.2" and a minimum of 1.4" × 0.8", placed at least 0.25" from the spine and trim edges. If you add a price code, it must match your list price. Always test-scan a proof copy.
